Baby blanket with hearts

This is a blue and white blanket done in granny square with scalloped edging. The hearts are crocheted seperately and then hand sewn onto the blanket.

This was my first attempt at a granny square blanket, and it turned out a little uneven. I mostly use it for a stroller blanket now that my son is a toddler.

Hooded baby blanket

This is a blue and yellow baby blanket with a hood. I was crocheting it for Aaron when I went into preterm labour at 28 weeks. I asked my mom to bring it when she returned to the hospital. I crocheted like mad, hoping to finish it before he was born. Even if they wouldn't let me wrap him in it I planned to drape it over his incubator. I finished it and fortunately was able to wrap him in it when he was finally born, at 10 days past his duedate.

When my son was a newborn, the hood provided a thick padding behind his head when he was swaddled. A few weeks later, he was big enough to wear the blanket with the hood over the top of his head.

Here is a picture of an identical blanket I made for my nephew. His is green and yellow. Pictured here with my brother and his newborn son.
